Thai protestors get help from utilities and airline workers

As a way of supporting anti-government protestors, thousands of utilities workers in Thailand have threatened a disruption of electricity and water supplies.

Major unions are urging 200,000 utilities workers to go on strike to show their dissatisfaction with the Government of Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej.

Protesters are continuing their sit-in at Government House in Bangkok for a ninth day, despite the government’s declaration of a state of emergency on Monday.

But the Thai army and police are managing to keep greater Bangkok peaceful, despite violent demonstrations in the early hours of Monday which killed at least one man.

The Thai army has vowed not to use force to end the demonstration.
