Rahul Gandhi dreams of a dynamic India

New Delhi, July 22: Young Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, one of the keenly awaited speakers during the trust vote debate, started on a personal note saying he had decided to speak as an Indian and not as a member of any political party. He also said that he is speaking with ...
...assumption that members of the House, irrespective of their political loyalties, also spoke in the best interest of the country. And, expectedly, he being one of the star speakers during the trust vote debate, met with perhaps maximum amount of disruption, with BSP members just not allowing him to proceed with his speech, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House till after Lunch, before he continued further.“I thought why the House is meeting. Because there is a serious problem in the country…and I will show how energy security is necessary to fight poverty,” he began.Striking an emotional chord, Rahul then narrated the stories of two women whom he met in Vidarbha, only 3 days ago.Relating the problem first, he talked of Sasikala, who has 3 sons and earns Rs 60/- a day, while her husband ekes out Rs 90/-. All her three sons had great aspirations, with one wanting to become a collector, another engineer and the a private job. Sasikala amidst her poverty managed not just to send them to a private school but also was also confident of their success. When I asked the children how they studied, the little boys pointed to a small brass lamp, Rahul said bringing out the point that energy security touched the lives of each one of us.“Energy security reflects everyday amongst us all, with Sasikala, the industry, among all Indians,” he said.Making a case for the nuclear deal, Rahul said that energy affects India’s ability to achieve 9% growth level, which in turn is the only way to fight poverty.Complimenting both NDA and UPA for implementing pro-people schemes like PMGY and NREGA and guaranteed education, Rahul returned to Vidarbha to give an example of the solution. This time he talked of Kalavati, whose husband was one of the poverty stricken farmers who committed suicide, has nine children. She blamed only one source of income for her husband’s death saying a failed cotton crop did him in. But she has now found a way out. She has diversified her production to three crops, brought two buffaloes, whose milk is now a source of additional income and has dug a pond of water, which comes handy when rain gods fail to oblige. However errant opposition members had had a bit too much of Rahul and without any apparent provocation were on their feet, and just would not allow him to continue. But as soon as the house convened he was again his ‘confident best’ as he went on to applaud the PM for having the vision regarding our energy needs in the future. When the House met again, Rahul was accompanied by Priyanaka, who joined him in Parliament to witness him arguing in support of the motion.Drawing a parallel to Kalavati’s case, the MP from Amethi said that nuclear power would act like a diversified source of our power; and in times when other means would be scarce, it would act like Kalavati’s main crop i. would take centerstage. However, as of today, the young Gandhi said that the hands of scientists were tied as they neither had fuel or the equipment.“I am proud to say our PM has recognized both the problem and the potential solution. I would also like to compliment Mr Vajpayee, who also saw the problem and worked on the solution,” Rahul announced amidst pin drop silence. His open compliment to the veteran BJP leader perhaps sucked out the wind from the Opposition wings.Rahul then went on to make a case for an eclectic yet balanced portfolio of nuclear, solar, wind and hydel energy. He however said that it was not enough to identify the problem and solution.Lavishing fulsome praise on the PM, he said, “The magic that Shri Manmohan Singh ji is doing is that he has identified an opportunity from within the problem. It is based on the simple fact that over the next 20-30 years, China and India will decide the global energy use pattern. We should look at our energy requirement not as a problem, but as an opportunity. We should use this ability to shape our as well as global energy use, he suggested.thats a wonderful speech, wonderful thought of a young dynamic leader.a real practical approach to solve the problems.its good news for country and we need such more politician who can understand the problems and can find solution.one should raise above to dirty politics and do what is the present need of country and also havevision in action.one bachelor of aged 38years has praised another bachelor of plus 80.
