Pradhan wins Pak Ambassador's Golf title

KATHMANDU, March 28 – Raj Pradhan won the Pakistan Ambassador’s Golf Tournament hosted by the Pakistani Ambassador Sohail Amin at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) on Saturday.

Pradhan netted 41 points with the help of four birdies, the most by any golfer on the day, to edge Rabin Rana by three points in the event played in stableford 7/8 handicap format. Likewise, Dorji Tsering Sherpa had the best gross of 30 on a day when Pushpa Rai (30) bagged the ladies’ title ahead of Shastika Shrestha (27).

Similarly, Himalaya SJB Rana took the honors in the super seniors’ category while Shahar Singh Limbu (38) did so in the seniors’ section finishing ahead of Lt General Chitra Bahadur Gurung.

Meanwhile, Shreejay Acharya hit the longest drive in the 13th hole while Major General Kiran Shumsher Thapa hit the closest to the pin in the 12th. Colonel MS Dhanoa (40) was the winner among ambassadors or guests in the category that also featured Japanese Ambassador Tatsuo Mizuno, Malaysian Ambassador Dato Ilankovan Kolandavelu and Ambassador of Myanmar U Aung Khin Soe.

Daisy Imtiaz Ahmad, the spouse of Bangladeshi Ambassador Imtiaz Ahmad, won the putting competition among non-golfing ladies while Uma Tiwari clinched the sportsmanship award on countback in the event that featured 72 golfers inlcuding seven ladies.
