Vehicular strike cripples life in different districts

LUMBINI, July 16 - Normal life in four districts of Lumbini zone has been crippled on Wednesday due to the transportation strike called by the agitating students.The students brought vehicular movement to a complete halt in Rupandehi, Arghakhachi, Palpa and Gulmi districts from early morning today protesting that the transporters' ... ...to provide them 45 percent concession in transportation fare.Student leaders had held discussion with transport entrepreneurs briefly at the District Administration Office on Tuesday--but to no avail.The agitating students comprising students affiliated to eight students union jointly called the indefinite transportation strike in the districts after the talks ended inconclusively.Meanwhile, Life was badly affected in Dhaulagiri Zone as the indefinite transportation strike called by transporta entrepreneurs staged demonstrations to protest the students demand for 45 percent discounts on transportation fares.Likewise, vehicular movements were completely stopped by the transportation entrepreneurs at Dhangadhi Bazaar in Kailali district. The transporters organised the strike in protest against the use of syndicate system.Shreenagar Transportation Entrepreneurs Committee had also called an indefinite transport strike from Monday in Palpa district demanding compensation to the vehicles vandalised in course of protest demonstrations, while the agitating students asked for treatment expenses and demanded legal action against the guilty.The commuters are facing hard times in the districts due to the strikes.
