Transporters urge FM to mediate Nepali vehicles to ply Indian soil

KATHMANDU, Aug 26 - Transport entrepreneurs urged Minister for Foreign Affairs Upendra Yadav, on Tuesday, to take initiatives for easy movement of the Nepali vehicles in the Indian soil following the obstruction of the East-West Highway after devastating Koshi floods. The transport operators called on the foreign minister today and ...

...necessary preparations from the Nepali authorities for the easy operation of Nepali vehicles through neighbouring India. The transporters said that they have to face a lot of difficulties to travel through India at present.

“It is a very complicated process for Nepali vehicles as we (transporters) have to take permission from the Indian Embassy,” said a transport operator, adding, “We have demanded that the vehicles be provided with permit by local authorities in India.

According to the transporters, the Indian vehicles get permission from local administration to enter Nepal for 72 hours, however, the Nepali vehicles have to get permit from the Embassy in Kathmandu itself.

The vehicles heading to and coming from Kathmandu have started operation via India when some road sections have been eaten up by the Koshi inundation in Sunsari.
