Siraha Govt Staff Call Off Strike

Government employees in Siraha on Wednesday withdrew their agitation after 11 days. They had been staging the agitation to pressurise the government to ensure security for them. At the ... ...of the meeting, an agreement was reached to meet the agitators' six-point demand.Among other things, the joint meeting agreed to initiate a process to compensate government employees, who were released from armed groups clutches' on ransom.The joint meeting also agreed to step up security in government offices in the district, including the district development committee, land revenue office, district hospital, Nepal Electricity Authority, Nepal Telecom and other financial institutions.The meeting also decided to provide round-the-clock security at the entry points of Lahan and Siraha municipalities. At the meeting, political parties said they would not pressure the security agencies to release the arrested.
