Police personnel clearing footpath stalls in capital today

KATHMANDU, Oct 15 - Police has started removing the footpath stalls along the main roads of the three districts in the capital on Wednesday.Police informed that all the stalls alongside the main road at Kalanki Chowk have been vacated this morning.

Police said that such stalls along the busy roads have created problems for the pedestrians and are also responsible for the increasing road accidents and traffic jams in the capital.

Traffic police had given a two day ultimatum to remove such stalls along the main roads in the capital which ended today.

According to the traffic police, footpath stalls at Kalanki, Koteshwor, Purano Baneshwor, Maharajgunj, bus park area and Tundikhel will be removed in the first phase.

Meanwhile, police is clearing the footpath stalls at Gaushala and Satdobato area.

It has been learnt that the stall owners are submitting a memorandum to Assistant Chief District Officer Murari Prasad Sharma at Lalitpur district administration office today stating that they must be allowed to run their stall business alongside the main roads.
