PM's visit strengthened Nepal-China ties: Nepali Embassy

Talking to the Kantipur Television today, Nepali Ambassador to China Tanka Karki said Dahal’s China visit has been quite an achievement.

“The prime minister was not only for the extension of bilateral ties,” Karki said. “Nepal has also hoped that China would extend more assistance to Nepal in the coming days,” he added.

Dahal’s China visit by putting off India’s invitation, though it was said to be for taking party in the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, has been considered to be of political significance in the diplomatic circle.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dahal, on Monday, had said that his China visit proved to be crucial for the construction of a new Nepal.

In a dinner organised last night at the Nepali Embassy, Dahal had expressed his hopes that China would extend more support for the construction of a new Nepal.

Earlier this morning, Prime Minister Dahal, who is also the chairman of the CPN-Maoist, observed the Great Wall of China, eighty kilometres away from the capital Beijing.

Today, wrapping up his three-day China visit, the prime minister headed for Bangkok. Dahal is scheduled to return to the capital tomorrow.
