PM to direct Home Minister to scrap syndicate system

Kailali Chambers of Commerce and Industry had initiated the agitation calling for abolition of syndicate system about three months ago.

The Supreme Court had issued an interim order, in the name of the government, to discontinue the prevailing syndicate system in the transport sector.

The business entrepreneurs claim that the system still exists.

The business entrepreneurs on the initiative of the FNCCI had put off their hunger strike after the prime minister assured them that the syndicate system will be removed within two months.

Earlier, the Home Ministry had directed the transporters through Chief District Officers to suspend the syndicate system.
