Parties fail to agree on CA vice-chair

KATHMANDU, Nov 26 - Political parties on Tuesday failed to file nomination for the post of Constituent Assembly (CA) vice chairperson's election to be held on Friday as they could not reach consensus on a name for the post. In accordance with constitutional and rules of procedures of the CA ...

...political parties have to file consensus candidacy for the post till Tuesday evening.

Because of inability to find a consensus candidate, the CA Secretariat has invitedĀ  interested candidates to file nominations by Wednesday evening.

On Monday, the Tarai Madhesh Loktantrik Party, which has laid claim to the post, had formed a five member talks team led by party leader Hridayesh Tripathi to garner support from other political parties, but the effort was in vain.

Tripathi said his party would talk with CPN (Maoist) and Nepali Congress, which have also been claiming the post, on Wednesday, .

It may be recalled that CA Chairman Subas Nembang was also elected unopposed although political parties had failed to reach consensus within the given timeframe.
