The cash-strapped NOC, which has monopoly on petroleum products but is failing to maintain smooth supply in the market for the last one year after failing to pay the dues to the sole supplier Indian Oil Corporation, said that it will start selling LP gas from tomorrow. The distributions will be closed on Thursday, the day of Maha-astami, and will continue from the following day.
Deputy Acting Director of the NOC Humish Prasad Dahal informed that each family would be provided with one cylinder of cooking gas.
Meanwhile, the Department of Commerce, the NOC and Consumers Forum monitored the market today and noticed the shortage of cooking gas, a day after the government announced to maintain the smooth supply of essential commodities.
During the monitoring carried out today at Bhimshengola, Chabahil and Mahankal in the capital, the dealers said that they failed to meet the consumers demand due to inadequate supply from the NOC.
