Nepal-India Home secy talks begin

KATHMANDU, Nov 1 - The Home Secretary level talks between Nepal and India, which began in New Delhi Friday, will discuss a host of cross border security issues, according to the home ministry spokesman. Asked if the various Tarai-based armed groups will feature in the talks, Dotel, who is also a member of the delegation, only said that all cross border security issues will be discussed. He did not elaborate.

As per the agreement between the two countries, home secretary level talks are to be held at least once a year and more often if necessary.  The last round of talks was held in September 2007, according to sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  The talks are led by Home Secretary Govinda Kusum and his Indian counterpart Madhukar Gupta.
