KATHMANDU, Aug 9 - Nepali Congress (NC) vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel on Friday remarked that the CPN-Maoist's allegation on NC, about the latter's fault in no headway to the government formation, is false.Addressing a programme in the capital today, Poudel added that the NC is in favour of a government ...
...with a consensus forged among the political parties. He informed that the NC maintained its stance on not giving the Ministries of Defense and Home Affairs to the CPN-Maoist in order to give importance to the peace process. At another programme today, NC vice-president Prakash Man Singh said the party has not claimed for the leadership of the next government. The NC will be active in forging a national consensus for the new government until the end, he added. He opined that a consensual government can still be formed if the CPN-Maoist gives up their stance.Singh said the NC is ready to assist in constitution-making process staying in opposition. On Friday, the deadline for forming a consensual government, the major political parties- CPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML and Madhesi People's Rights (MPRF)- failed to forge a consensus on Common Minimum Programme (CMP), the allocation of ministerial portfolios and the implementations of the agreements made in the past. While the CPN-UML and the MPRF have floated the idea that the Maoist should lead the next government, the NC has been repeating that the issues such as power-sharing, implementation of past pacts and CMP should be agreed in a package.
