Locals obstruct Araniko Highway in Bhaktapur

BHAKTAPUR, Oct 26 - Local residents of Bhaktapur district have obstructed the Araniko Highway on Sunday after two people were injured in an accident.The locals blocked the highway since 10.30 this morning demanding medical treatment and compensation to the injured.

Meanwhile in Nawalparasi district, a 9-year old child died after being hit by a truck today. A truck (Na 3 Kha 661) heading for Butwal from Narayangarh hit BP Pariyar at Swathi Bankatti along the East-West Highway at around 8 this morning.

According to the police, Pariyar died on his way to treatment.

Last night, one person was killed and another critically injured near Tulsipur Airport in Dang district when a jeep hit a motorcycle.The police said that the deceased has been identified as Santosh Lamichane of Tulsipur Municipality.

Critically injured pillion rider Subash Shakya is undergoing treatment in Nepalgunj, the district police office informed.

The police have taken the jeep and the driver under custody.
