Koshi displaced obstruct transportation in Bhardaha

SAPTARI, Nov 6 - The Koshi displaced people have obstructed the East-West Highway at Bhardaha in Saptari district on Thursday.Hundreds of passengers have been stranded after the displaced, currently staying at Bhardaha camps, took to the streets at around 8 this morning.

...days pressing to meet their 11-point demands. Their demands include estimation of the property destroyed the flood, proper arrangement for the rehabilitation of the displaced ones and waiver in the debt of the displaced people.

Some 31,000 displaced people have been staying in government-run camps in Saptari district, according to the Home Ministry.

Likewise, Madhesi People’s Rights Forum (MPRF) cadres have obstructed vehicular movement along the East-West Highway at Kanchanpur in the district today.

They have demanded to release an MPRF cadre, Manoj Yadav, who was detained for the alleged abduction of Sanjay Shah, a businessman of Bhardaha, yesterday.

Meanwhile in Banke district, vehicular movement came to a grinding halt at the Kohalpur-Bhurigaun road section following protests carried out by the family of a girl killed in an accident.

Eight-year old Anita Chaudary of Motipur was hit by a truck (Na 2 Kha 7990) on Tuesday. She died while undergoing treatment at Lucknow, India.

The irate kins have demanded compensation to the girl’s family.
