Khanal urges NC to join govt
PANCHTHAR, Nov 16 - CPN-UML General Secretary Jhala Nath Khanal has said that the constitution writing process will be difficult unless the parties, including Nepali Congress (NC), join the government. Speaking to media persons at Phidim in the district Saturday, Khanal said the constitution writing process is going through tough ...
UML is making its utmost effort to bring NC into the coalition government, he said.
The UML General Secretary also said that the Army Integration Special Committee should be reconstituted inclusive of all parties at the earliest to pave the way toward constitution building process.
Stating that the armed Tarai outfits are bent on disintegrating the country, Khanal said that the government should not hold talks with the underground groups.
"The government should initiate strong counter- attack strategy against such groups," he said, adding, "Holding dialogue with armed Madheshi outfits will be government's weakness.
Maoist impudent towards NC: Nepal
Meanwhile, CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has accused CPN (Maoist) of displaying impudent attitude toward the Nepali Congress (NC). Talking to journalists, Nepal said NC is unwilling to join the Army Integration Special Committee since the Maoists are adamantly opposed on providing a respectable position to the NC. Nepal, who is also the former general secretary of UML, also charged Maoists of trying to impose authoritarian rule by giving continuity to its "quasi-military" youth wing, YCL. If the CPN (Maoist) is willing to dissolve YCL then UML too will disband Youth Front that was formed to oppose YCL attacks, he said. Nepal had arrived in the district to address UML Mechi Zonal Workers' Training program.
