...of representatives of over one-and-half-a-dozen organizations, including Nepal Transport Workers' Organization (NTWO), Nepal Drivers' Association and All Nepal Transportation Entrepreneurs Association, held at Itahari on Sunday also decided to gradually expand their strike all over the country demanding security of entrepreneurs and safety of their vehicles. They also formed a 26-member struggle committee to press for their demands.The transport workers put forward various demands including compensation amount of one million rupees to Khawas' family, free education for the bereaved children, guaranteed security for transport entrepreneurs and declaration of national highways as a zone of peace.NTWO Chairman, Motiraj Sunuwar, said that they would not withdraw their strike but go on to expand it throughout all 14 zones until the government fulfills their demands.Bravery award to Khawas, handyman Meanwhile, Dhankuta Municipality on Sunday decided to award Khawas and handyman of the bus Laxmi Prasad Dhimal for their bravery in preventing the highway robbery. Announcing the posthumous prize to Khawas, executive officer Mahendra Kumar Khamyahang, said that Khawas family would be provided a cash prize of 20,000 rupees. Similarly, 10,000 cash prize will be given away to Dhimal.Khawas, who had managed to foil the robbery attempt of the armed robbers, was shot dead by the latter at Banke forest in Sarlahi on Thursday night. After he was shot, Dhimal had taken control of the steering and prevented an accident.
