...new subjects for Grade XII from the next academic session starting mid-July, 2009.The new subjects introduced in Grade XI include Gender Studies, Chemistry Education, General Concept of Education, Introduction to Education Psychology, Food and Nutrition, Environmental Education, Library and Information Service, and General Law and Co-operative Management. Introduction to Education, Instructional Pedagogy, Physics Education, Biology Education, Rural Development, and Elements of Finance are also among the new subjects introduced for Grade XI.Speaking at a press meet, HSEB vice chairman Prof Dr Upendra Koirala said the introduction of Science Education in Grade XI starting this year would help to meet the requirement of science teachers at lower secondary level after two years. Currently, Science Education is taught only at Intermediate of Arts under Tribhuvan University.HSEB officials said students of XI can now choose three subjects from six groups of optional subjects, while the remaining two others will be compulsory subjects.HSEB has developed prerequisite courses in English, Nepali, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Mathematics to help grant equivalence of higher secondary education to those passing three-year studies in Health Science under CTEVT. This will pave the way for CTEVT health science graduates to pursue MBBS studies.Likewise, HSEB has also introduced a new curriculum for those receiving 10-month training from NCED to help them get academic qualification equivalent to higher secondary. They have to pass a 600-mark examination to get equivalent degree.
