Health workers shut down services in Rautahat

GAUR, Sept 8 - Health workers in Rautahat on Monday called on an indefinite shut down of health services except emergency in the district to protest against the killing of a heath worker. Surendra Yadav, district chairman of Nepal Health Workers Union, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen yesterday night. ...

...to the police, Yadav was shot at head at Yaanagar-Sankhuwa road section when he was returning home from Garuda Bazaar at 9 pm. He died on the spot.

Yadav was working as an assistant health worker in the primary health post in Inarbari VDC.

Meanwhile, Yadav’s kin and locals have blocked the highway and shut down the market in the district headquarters Gaur from today morning.

Protestors have demanded to declare Yadav martyr, investigation of the assassination, compensation to the victim’s family and punishment to the culprits.
