Gyanendra made first public appearance after 4-month of exile

Kathmandu, Oct 02: Deposed Nepalese king Gyanendra,

who was in virtual exile since he left the royal Narayanhiti

palace on June 11, on Thursday made his first public appearance

after being stripped of the crown when he met a visiting

Indian guru.

Gyanendra drove his black car by himself from Nagarjuna

hill resort to Shyama-Shyam ...

...of Bhaktapur, 15-km east of

Kathmandu, to meet famous religious guru Jagadguru Kripaluji

Maharaj.

The former monarch reached the place at 11.

spent about 10 minutes with the saint and also worshipped

various Hindu Gods and Goddesses at the ashram, Kantipur

Television reported.

Some of his loyalists were also present there and

welcomed Kripalu Ji by offering flowers.

Briefly talking to media, Gyanendra expressed good

wishes to the Nepalese people on the occasion of Vijaya

Dashami and wished for peace in the country.

This was the first time Gyanendra was shown by

television in the public place after he left the palace four

months ago.

Earlier on Wednesday, former Crown Princess Himani Shah

appeared in public on the occasion of her 32th birth day while

offering food to old aged people at a old age home near

Pashupatinath Temple.
