Govt failed to resolve Koshi floods diplomatically, says TMDP chief

KATHMANDU, Sept 4 - Terai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) Chairman Mahanta Thakur Thursday said that the government’s bid to resolve the breach of the Koshi embankment through diplomacy remained unsuccessful. In a programme organised at the party office in the capital today, the TMDP chairman remarked that the government of ...

...Nepal and India continue to blame each other instead of working jointly to mitigate the devastation caused by the floods.

Thakur criticised the government, saying that it failed to provide relief packages to the flood victims.

Speaking at the programme, TMDP leader Hirdayesh Tripathi mentioned that six spurs built at Tribeni to control the Narayani river is on the verge of collapse.

Tripathi informed that his team sought the government’s attention towards the weak situation of the spurs at Tribeni after his team visited the place.

He also drew the government’s attention saying that the region will still be under the potential threat of floods if the latter fails to take any immediate measures.
