...office, the letter was finalised on Friday night, but was registered today only as Saturday was a holiday.Earlier, President Yadav had sent an informal letter to the CA secretariat requesting to start the procedure on the election of the Prime Minister. The political party that can garner simple majority can now lay claim to power. The President has called on the CA on Sunday since the CPN-Maoist, as the single largest party in the CA, failed to form a new government based on national consensus even by the extended deadline. The Interim Constitution provides that if a consensual government is not formed, the party able to secure a majority in the CA can form the government.
