Fuel supply comes to a halt in Valley again

Kathmandu, August 17:

Nepal Oil Corporation did not distribute fuel to private petrol pumps in the Kathmandu Valley today. As a result, supply of petroleum products was disrupted.

The quantum of supply to army and police-run petrol pumps was also law, according to NOC officials.

Mukunda Ghimire of NOC's Thankot depot said they ...

...petroleum products that NOC could stock in one day.

Earlier, the supply of petroleum products was disrupted for over two days because of a transport strike in Bara.

The strike was enforced by people, who were demanding compensation for family members of a local, who was hit to death by a fuel tanker.

NOC spokesperson Mukunda Dhungel said fuel could not be imported for three days because of public holiday in India.

He said only 36 kilolitres of petrol and the same amount of diesel was distributed to petrol pumps run by army and police today.

Aita Ram Lama, who had been queuing up to refuel his four-wheeler in front of the army-run pump in Bhadrakali since 4 pm yesterday, could not get fuel today. He, however, hoped that he might get some tomorrow.

Lama said that many people, who had queued up their vehicles near the pump, left as they came to know that fuel would not be supplied today.

Lama said that fuel was not available in black market.

An attendant at Kankai Oil Suppliers, Teku, said not a single vehicle was queued up outside his pump today.
