The Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) – umbrella body of private business community – has warned of closing down industries and businesses if transport syndicate system is not ended within a week.

Addressing a press meet, Sunday, FNCCI president Kush Kumar Joshi said, “Because of ...

...from syndicate operators and impotence of the administration to end the system, we are compelled to announce the nationwide strike.

Joshi accused that the local administration failed to end syndicate despite orders by the Prime Minister, Home Minister, Home Secretary and chiefs of security organs.

“This has encouraged the syndicate operators. So we have no option other than to organise strike,” he said.

Joshi had met with newly elected PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Saturday and apprised him with the situation. Since the new PM has vowed to smash syndicate system, we are giving him a week’s time to carry that out, Joshi said.

Due to syndicate in transport system, business community in far west have been in agitation for nearly two months.
