Film makers shutdown cinema halls nationwide

KATHMANDU, Sept 29 - Nepal Film Producers’ Association and Nepal Film Association jointly shut down entire cinema halls throughout the nation on Monday protesting against the government for bringing new policy in Nepali films.The irate film makers have demanded to withdraw the government’s decision to charge development fee.

...policy, the hall owners must pay 20 percent tax of the total seats available in the hall even if there is no audience.

The agitators claimed that the new policy has put all the hall owners and the entire film makers in a difficult situation.

Meanwhile, they have given 15 days ultimatum to scrap the government’s policy and have warned to take to the streets if their demand is not met on time.
