...due to be held in Sri Lanka among other issues.At the meeting, Nepal suggested that it wouldn't be appropriate for the outgoing PM Koirala, who has already tabled his resignation, to participate in the SAARC summit of a caretaker government.Nepal advised that the new President should be sent to the summit if a new government cannot be formed.Responding to Koirala who said that the president is not the executive chief of the government, Nepal reminded that in the previous SAARC summit ceremonial heads-of-state of other countries had taken part.The former UML General Secretary also advised Koirala to take the consent of the CPN-Maoist before taking the decision to carry on with his plans.Following his meeting with Nepal, Koirala said that he will consult with other party leaders.However, the octogenarian PM declined to talk to journalists.Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Koirala, who used to hold political meetings at the PM's official residence at Baluwatar, reached Nepal's residence this morning along with Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula.The dissolved interim government on Monday took a surprising decision to take part in the upcoming SAARC summit to be held in Colombo, saying that the formation of a post-election government remained uncertain.Immediately after the government decision, the CPN-Maoist urged the Sri Lankan government not to accept PM Koirala's participation as he cannot represent a caretaker government in crucial SAARC summits in which various treaties and agreements are signed.
