With the slogan ‘Stand up and take action’ 15th International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is being marked in the country and across the world today.

On October 17, 1987 thousands of people raised voice against continuous existence of poverty, violence and hunger in Paris.

In 1993, the General Assembly of the United Nations decided to henceforth observe October 17 as the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.
