East, central Nepal to see more rainy days

KATHMANDU, Aug 28 - There is to be no respite from rain in most parts of the eastern and central regions of the country at least for the coming four days, according to staff at the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD)."Due to the persistence of a monsoon trough (low-pressure associated with ...

...rainfall) close to the Himalayan foothills, fairly widespread rainfall over the eastern region is still likely," said Kesav Raj Shrestha, senior meteorologist at MFD on Wednesday.

According to MFD, there will be generally cloudy weather throughout the country with temporary rain or thundershowers at many places in the eastern and central regions and at some places in the western regions.

Shrestha said rainfall was recorded in most places in the country the last few days with maximum precipitation of 43.2mm in Pokhara on Tuesday. Similarly, Kathmandu Valley recorded 11.6 mm of rain the same day.

"Most places in the western region are expecting improved weather conditions in the next couple of days, but the eastern and central parts will continue to see temporary thundershowers," he said.

However, there is less chance of heavy downpours in the country, according to Shrestha.
