Dannatt pledges all help

KATHMANDU, Dec 1 - The visiting British Army Chief of General Staff, Richard Dannatt, on Sunday has offered British assistance for the integration of Maoist combatants and security sector reforms (SSR). During the meeting, Prime Minister Dahal said the government would decide on whether to accept the offer once the Special Army Integration Committee formed to work out  the supervision, integration and rehabilitation starts its work.

Emerging from the meeting, British Army chief Dannatt told reporters that he can only give suggestions and the final decision has to be made by Nepal government in this regard. He also praised the young Nepalese men serving in the British Army  as soldiers and hoped that this tradition will continue in the future.

The British Army chief who is on a 4- day visit to Nepal also paid a courtesy call on President Rambaran Yadav Sunday.
