The Maoist central members strongly demanded for the party general assembly, saying that the assembly would make various important decisions.
“The central meeting is continuing discussions on the political report tabled by the party chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal in a very positive manner,†said Maoist leader and Minister for Information and Communications Krishna Bahadur Mahara.At today’s meeting, senior Maoist leaders including Mohan Baidya ‘Kiran’, Baburam Bhattarai, CP Gajurel, Dev Gurung and Barshaman Pun ‘Ananta’ expressed their views on the political report.
While making remarks on the report, the Maoist central members said that the party should not forget its “core spirit of revolutionary principle†while formulating the party strategy.
However, the leaders said that the party has remained successful so far.
The Maoist leaders underscored the need for a federal republic system in the country so as to empower who they called “proletariatsâ€. However, some central members said that it would be impossible to skip from the current system and opined that the party should move towards people’s republic through the current system, sources said.
The first ever central committee meeting of the Maoists after taking up the post-election government leadership is expected to formulate the party’s future direction.The next meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday.
