...the Maoists on a national government.The meeting was called after President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Tuesday invited the Maoists to take initiative to form a national government within a week.Besides discussing theconcept paper, the meeting also dwelt on the possibility of an alliance with the CPN-UML.“Discussions are going on positive direction about the formation of the next government. We also discussed the latest political development post-presidential race,” Maoist chairman Prachanda told media at the end of today’s meeting.Prachanda said theconcept paper mainly focused on nationalism, federalism and immediate relief package to be provided to the people by the new government. He added that the document focused on polices of the new government.A central leader, who did not want to be named, told this daily that the leaders were airing views both on favour and against leading the government. But a final decision would be taken only after all the central leaders complete their views tomorrow, he added. Maoist spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara said the concept paper prepared by senior leaders Mohan Baidya and Dev Gurung would be fine-tuned by the central committee and would be presented to other parties for further discussions.Mahara said the document was a policy outline of the national government on issues related to new constitution, peace process, including the management of the Maoist army, and socio-economic packages.
