Cop Killed in Police Action in Jhapa

Head Constable Bishwodip Nembang, 35, a resident of Jalthal VDC-9, Jhapa, died in police action on Wednesday.A police team from Kakarbhitta Area Police Office opened fire when he tried to evade body check and brandished a pistol in Magumadi of Mechinagar municipality-4. Police seized a pistol, a rifle and Rs 8,000 in cash and gold earrings from him.However, Nembang's father, Bibulibikram, claimed that his son's death was a conspiracy. "He was a gym master in Nepal Police Club and had gone to his wife's home in Shantinagar on vacation," he said, adding that a police team raided his home this morning.The deceased is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.Body of the deceased has been kept in Mechi Zonal Hospital for post-mortem. Victim's father said he would take the body from the hospital only after the government took action against the culprits and compensated his family.
