The Chief Justice appealed to the legal practitioners to remain alert against the attack against the judicial independence and reputation.
Minister for Law and Justice Dev Gurung and Attorney General Raghav Lal Baidya underscored the need to advance the judiciary by discontinuing the traditional system.
Minister Gurung informed that the government will take forward the judge appointment process at the earliest.
“We will definitely fill the vacant posts in the judicial council under the leadership of honourable Chief Justice and conferring with experienced lawmakers,” said Gurung.
He informed that the government will bring in a special system to speed up the justice process.
Attorney General Baidya urged the chief justice and judges to be free from all kinds of limitations and pressures.
Bar Association of Nepal Chairman Bishwakanta Mainali and former Chairman Shambhu Thapa expressed their serious concern s over Minister Matrika Yadav’s obstreperous involvement in seizure of private property. The duo opined that the rule of law would be ridiculed if a minister himself defies the law of land.
General Secretary of Bar Association Ram Kumar Shrestha said that they would intensify the campaign launched by the Bar to curb rampant anomalies, malpractices and corruption in the court.
Likewise, the legal professionals suggested that judges should be appointed by not only considering the seniority but also by taking into account the qualification, capability and honesty.
