CA regulation draft tabled

KATHMANDU, Nov 10 - Clearing the decks for drafting the much-anticipated new constitution, the Rules and Regulations Drafting Committee (RRDC) for the Constituent Assembly (CA) tabled its report at the CA meeting after agreement among the parties on Monday.Political parties represented in the CA, which were divided on whether to ...

...vote of conscience for individual members, finally sorted the differences by agreeing to remain silent on the issue.

The CA regulations had failed to gain momentum for a long time after the parties locked their horns over the issue of party whip or ensure vote of conscience.

Once the report is endorsed by the CA, the CA regulations will be implemented paving the way for writing a new constitution.

The CA regulations draft has also been tabled at today’s CA meeting that took place for the first time in four months.

As the CA meeting was conducted only in its capacity as legislative session due to differences among the parties, the CA"mandated to write the new constitution for new republican Nepal"was condemned from several quarters for its failure to play effective role in the constitution drafting process.

The CA meeting has occurred for 11 times after the country was declared the federal republic.
