Bir Hospital staffers continue strike

KATHMANDU, Nov 16 - Regular services at the Bir Hospital, Nepal’s oldest and one of the busiest hospitals, remained halted for the fourth day in a row due to the strike called by the employees.The agitating hospital employees including the doctors have demanded resignation of Vice Chancellor of National Academy ...

Their other demands include permanent appointment to the temporary staffers at the hospital and Nursing campus and those working on contract basis, hike in their salary, immediate appointment to those held eligible by the vacancy fill up committee.

They have warned to continue the strike until their demands are met.

Meanwhile, the employees have been running medical services outside the hospital to avoid inconvenience to the patients during the strike period.

Around 1300 patients from all over the country visit the hospital every day for treatment.
