Big changes in administrative, security bodies soon: PM Dahal

KANCHANPUR, Oct 18 - The government will make big changes in the administration and security mechanisms within a few days, said Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Saturday.

Mentioning that the list for changes has already been prepared by the bodies concerned, the PM said transfers and promotions of the government employees will occur in few days. He further underscored that the employees perform their duty sincerely wherever they may be deputed at after promotion or transfer.

Stating the country will get into crisis if the government fails, PM Dahal directed the civil servants to work in national interest.

He further called on them to be vigilant while working since the wrong forces may interfere with the national unity, at a time when political change has not been institutionalised.

Dahal said although the administrative mechanism is responsible for implementing the government plans and policies, the targets cannot be reached until there is will power.

He directed the government employees to formulate programmes in a way so that the general public can feel the political change.

The PM , who is also the CPN-Maoist chairman, reiterated that the government’s main responsibility is to draft a new constitution within two years.

He said that the country will gain relief and the Constituent Assembly (CA) will be successful if the Nepali Congress (NC) joins the government. I will directly meet the NC President Girija Prasad Koirala and ask his party to join the government after my return to the capital, h e added.

Pointing towards the recent debate on the party’s name change and possible split in the party, Dahal said that nobody should even think of division of the CPN-Maoist. He further said that decision has not been made over the name change yet. “Our party will move ahead in a more unified manner in coming days,” he added.

Speaking about the army integration, he said that it will be carried out by forming a special committee.

Meanwhile, Kanchanpur branch of the Nepal Journalists Federation submitted a memorandum to the PM asking publicising the whereabouts of journalist Prakash Thakuri who has been missing for one and half years.Meanwhile, PM Dahal, who was scheduled to meet NC President and former Prime Minister Koirala today, could not return to the capital due to technical problems in the helicopter. The PM has been taken to Nepalgunj by a Nepal Army chopper at around 6 pm Dahal.
