KATHMANDU, July 18 - Normal life across Palpa district has become difficult due to the gruelling general strike now running on its seventh consecutive day on Friday.Food and daily commodities including petroleum products have become short in the district due to the bandh called by the students of Palpa district ...
...protest against transport workers for not providing the government stipulated 45 percent fare discount for students.The general shutdown and transport strike is being carried out in Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Doti, Parbat, Bardiya and Baitadi districts by students and transport entrepreneurs.General public have been forced to walk as no vehicles have been allowed to run in the roads.Meanwhile, vehicular movement which resumed in Rupandehi last night after two days has been obstructed this morning.In Butwal, transport entrepreneurs and workers carried out transport strike since this morning protesting that vehicular movement should be resumed in the districts neighbouring Palpa.Hundred of commuters have been stranded on their way as the East-West, Mahendra and Sinddhartha Highways have been blocked.
