Agitating APF personnel, govt make peace

Agitating police personnel of the Armed Police Forces Bageshwori battalion at Shamshergunj today agreed to shelve their agitation for a month and released 25 senior officers who had been taken hostage by them. The APF personnel had started agitation on Saturday night to protest physical and mental torture at the hands of high-ranking officers and distribution of low-quality food.APF AIG Pandey said the authorities had agreed to provide same kind of ration to all ranks of the battalion, pay medical expenses of the personnel, pay poll allowances to APF personnel concerned and punish those who misappropriated the funds meant for the APF personnel.

...I ector General of Police Narayan Pandey inked a 22-point agreement with the agitators. Dotel said the agreement would be implemented at all APF units across the country. Assistant sub i ector Tej Bahadur Balayar, who led the disgruntled group, said the agitation would continue if the agreement was not implemented within a month. AIG Pandey said battalion commander Hari Shanker Budathoki, who was accused of irregularities at the battalion had also been transferred.Pandey vowed to take action against those accused of irregularities. Meanwhile, a committee was formed under APF SSP Rajendra Bahadur Singh to investigate irregularities at the battalion. The committee will present its report in a month. The committee comprises officials from the APF headquarters, regional administration office, Banke district administration office, APF training centre and three agitators.
