Administration starts removing vendors from roadside

...police informed. The vendors retaliated with the administration’s bid to vacate the footpath and clashed with the traffic police in Kalanki.

The police said that the market along the footpath of busy roads has created problems to pedestrians and are also responsible for chaos in the traffic and increasing road accidents in the capital.

The traffic police had given a two day ultimatum to remove stalls along the main roads in the capital which ended today.

According to the traffic police, footpath stalls at Kalanki, Koteshwor, Purano Baneshwor, Maharajgunj, the Bus Park area and Tundikhel will be removed in the first phase.

Meanwhile, the police are clearing the footpath stalls at Gaushala and Satdobato area.

It has been learnt that the stall owners are submitting a memorandum to Assistant Chief District Officer Murari Prasad Sharma at the District Administration Office in Lalitpur today stating that they must be allowed to run their business.
