Smriti to bring Gandhi on small screen!

Mumbai, Aug 12: While ‘Soap Queen’ Ekta Kapoor is busy turning ‘Mahabharat’ into a ‘Maha’ drama, Smiriti ‘Tulsi’ Irani is getting all set to make a mega bilingual tele-serial with UTV on ‘Mahatma Gandhi’.What’s interesting is that the show will not only be aired for Indian audiences but also be ... ...in UK and US. The show is largely to focus on Gandhi’s family life and the ups and downs that the family faced due to his innumerable sacrifices. In order to ensure excellence in the show, Smriti will also be hoping onto South Africa to shoot the initial episodes of the show.When asked about the show, Smriti said, “Mahatma Gandhi was also a husband, a father, a family man. Though his sacrifices have been chronicled on screen before, we would also like to highlight the sacrifices made by his family, a story largely untold. Gandhiji’s journey was hugely impacted by incidents in his early childhood and his stay in South Africa..After Ekta, we are just keeping our fingers crossed that Smriti does not turn her untold tale into tale better not told.
