Child stealing agents stalk flood areas

A serious social problem has been spreading through the Indian state of Bihar, as hapless victims of the floods struggle to stay alive.

Taking advantage of the vulnerable situation, middlemen have started trafficking children out of the state to metro cities.

A team of volunteers of has this week rescued six children ...

...were being lured away by two men at the Katihar railway station in Bihar.

While helping out the victims of the flood in Bihar, some volunteers noticed that many children were roaming around at the railway station with just one or two suspicious men.

On enquiring, the volunteers found the men were not relatives of the children and were taking them to Kolkata to force them to work in roadside cafes.

Volunteers are now being asked to be vigilant at railway stations and the metros of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, where the children are likely to be taken.
